 It was almost Christmas 
  I stood in another line
 Trying to buy  last gift or two

 Daddy says  not much time

 They counted pennies  what seemed like years
 And the cashier  “Son, there's not enough here.”
 He searched his  franticly
 And  turned and he looked at me
 He said, “Momma made Christmas good at our 
 though most years she  did without.
 Tell me, sir, what am  gonna do?
 Somehow I’ve got to buy  these Christmas shoes.”
 
 So I laid the money 
 I just  to help him out
  I'll never forget

 When he said, “Momma's gonna look  great.”

 It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just  size
 Could you  sir?
 Daddy says there's not  time

  momma meets Jesus tonight.”
 
 I knew I’d caught a glimpse of  love as he thanked me and ran out.
 I knew  God had sent that little boy to remind me
 What Christmas is all 
 
 “Sir, I  buy these shoes for my momma, please
 It's Christmas Eve and these  are just her size
 Could you hurry, 
 Daddy says  not much time
  see, she's been sick for quite a while
 And I know these  will make her smile
 And I want her  look beautiful
 If momma  Jesus tonight
 I want  to look beautiful
 If  meets Jesus tonight.”
