 No one seemed  notice me
 Being young was  so old
 Cheap  and cigarettes
 Life was like a movie 
  I seemed to be given no role
 
  in times of trouble
 I can turn to  mother
 And I know that she gon’ 
 So at age 
 I cried to my 
 And  told me, “young man”
 
 “There are moments  you fall to the ground
 But  are stronger than you feel you are now
 You don’t always have to speak  loud, no
 Just  as you are
  is not always a comfortable ride
 Everybody’s got scars  they hide
 And everybody plays the  sometimes, yeah
 Just be as  are”
 
 They played me on the 
 And everything was changing, 
 I thought  was all the way grown
 But I can  remember in that cold November
 When I realized I’m  alone
 
 But in  of trouble
 I can turn to  mother
  I know that she gon’ understand
 So at age 
 I cried to  mother
 And she told me,  man”
